Heating systems for property developers

Explore our heating options for your project. The property developers we partner with will be aware that new installations of gas, LPG and oil boilers are being phased out in 2035. (Although this has already been pushed back once, originally they were planned to be phased out by 2025!) We continue to offer the full range of heating solutions and can advise developers on what is best for their project.

Air source heat pumps for housing developments

The earliest installations of air source heat pumps were in eco-friendly or luxury developments where sustainability is a key selling point. Increasingly, they are installed in urban and suburban housing projects as part of green building initiatives. And this will only increase with the phasing out of oil and gas burning systems by 2035.

Benefits:

  • Eco-friendly: If hooked up to renewable energy generation sources, heat pumps will significantly reduce carbon emissions from heating.
  • Cost savings: Long-term energy savings for end-users appeal to environmentally conscious buyers.
  • Quiet and compact: Modern heat pumps are unobtrusive and easy to integrate into new builds.

Cost differences:

  • Installation cost: Higher than traditional boilers, but traditional boilers are being phased out in 2035.
  • Running cost: Forecast to be lower than fossil fuels if the price of electricity from renewable energy continues to drop.

Gas boilers for housing developments

Gas boilers are ideal for urban developments which can connect to the mains gas supply. Combi gas boilers that provide heat for heating and hot water systems have been the most frequently chosen systems for medium-to-large-scale housing projects for decades.

Benefits:

  • Affordability. Gas boilers are cost-effective to install and operate.
  • Consumer appeal. Buyers are familiar with and trust gas systems.
  • Efficiency. Modern condensing gas boilers provide high efficiency and low emissions.

Cost differences:

  • Installation cost. Generally the lowest compared to oil and LPG.
  • Running cost. Gas has been the most economical option for ongoing energy costs to the end user.

LPG boilers for housing developments

LPG Boilers provide a flexible heating option for developments that cannot connect to mains gas. Often installed for smaller developments or rural housing estates where the tanks can be discreetly placed.

Benefits:

  • Off-grid flexibility. Provides reliable heating for remote areas.
  • Compact storage. LPG tanks can be discreetly installed on-site. Only tanks with capacity greater than 4 tonnes are required to have security fencing.
  • Eco-friendlier than oil. Produces lower emissions compared to traditional oil boilers.

Cost Differences:

  • Installation cost: Medium, due to storage requirements.
  • Running cost. In recent history, fuel costs have been higher than gas but more competitive than oil.
